India Lockdown 2.0: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Meanwhile, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana have already announced an extension of the lockdown till April 30.

India reports 1,211 new coronavirus cases and 31 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed 10,000 with 339 deaths. Maharashtra and Delhi have recorded the most number of cases.

PM Narendra Modi has announced the extension of the complete lockdown of the country till May 3. PM Modi is addressing the nation after much anticipation for days as the nationwide lockdown imposed for 21 days comes to an end today. Several state governments have already announced lockdown extension in their states, the Centre made an announcement today and PM Modi said the lockdown has been extended till May 3.

PM Modi says, "With fast action and early lockdown, India has done much better than the bigger nations. The figures from these developed nations show that we are doing much better."



SOME KEY ANNOUNCEMENT:


  •  PM Modi announces lockdown relaxations for daily wagers who have suffered a severe blow due to the lockdown. PM Modi announces relief for farmers ahead of the rabi crop harvest season.
  • “Till 20th April, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions,” says PM Modi.
  • PM Modi says, "In case of any positive development in any particular area or district, we can give a conditional concession from April 20. In case of any violation, development of any new hotspots, those concessions will be rolled back in those areas."


 Detailed guidelines on lockdown will be issued tomorrow and focus would be on providing some relief to the poor class.
