COAL INDIA LIMITED PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE MINERS ON LABOR DAY


Coal India Limited (CIL) is the single largest coal producing company in the world. It produces over 80% of India's overall coal production. Coal mining in India is majorly done by a state-run monopoly Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries in different parts of the country. The company employs the highest amount of laborers and has the largest and one of the strongest labor unions in the country. The safety of the mine laborers is a recurrent issue given the accidents that occur due to poor safety policies. “In view of the target of 1 billion tonnes for coal production in India, standards of safety must be improved further. Clarifying that high production level must be achieved without compromising workers' safety and health”.


Shri. Pramod Agrawal, Chairman, CIL, Shri. Binay Dayal, Director - Technical, CIL, Shri. Sanjiv Soni, Director - Finance, CIL and HoDs of CIL paid floral tributes to the miners at the Martyrs Memorial at Coal India Corporate office, on the occasion of Mayday also called as Workers Day or Labours Day which is celebrated on the first day of May every year globally.

Sangram Keshari das who lives in Bhubaneswar, Odisha came up with a creative tweet cum suggestion for all labor working in open cast mines to ensure safety in this pandemic.
